Mr. Peeps

Hello, friends.

It has now been nearly five months since the last sighting of Mr. Peeps. Maybe he really has retired?

You will also notice that all the pictures are missing from this site. Short version: I lost my webhosting deal and so all the links are broken. I'll try to find some sort of workaround hosting deal, but it might be a while - especially since I will have to edit each individual entry to make the pics show up again.

Only a month after "retiring," Mr. Peeps sent in another batch of pictures. I knew he'd get restless before too long.

Peeps flying (with the help of a machine, as wingless birds require). But to where?

Puerto Vallarta! Sun, surf, beers, babes, and not too far from his new home.

Tee hee.

Two drinks at once. Really nothing out of the ordinary.

Mr. Peeps and a giant beer.

Peeps floating on an alligator, clearly to prevent any unfortunate drowning incidents.

Speaking of unfortunate incidents...

Another floatation device. Someone is real concerned about Peeps drowning...

Peeps and a fellow feathered friend.

Poor Peeps!

Peeps and a pretty sunset.

Yep, that's a boat.

Number of times Firefox crashed while posting this update: Four.

Number of times Firefox would have crashed had I not given up and just written the whole thing in a text file: Eighty hundred.

Well, that didn't take long. Less than two weeks after receiving Mr. Peeps' apparent retirement pictures, Chick has sent in some pictures of her own. From the looks of it, she's returned to Canada and - presumably tired of Peeps' drunken, philandering (but oh-so-adorable) ways - she's looking for a man.

The border crossing. I assume Chick took this picture crossing the border back into Canada.

A hockey game. I assume this is Regina's Agridome, but the jerseys are too small and the ads are too generic for me to know for sure. Why was Chick here? Was she looking for a man?

Hmm. It seems that while Mr. Peeps prefers human females, Chick sticks to her fellow stuffed animals. Here, she spends some quality time with Gainer the Gopher. Big Woody?

Oh my.

At least she seems happy, though still rolling her eyes. But where are the babies? I expect this story is far from over...

Well, this was unexpected.

Last week I got another batch of pictures from the kidnapper, only... they weren't from the kidnapper. They were from Mr. Peeps himself. And I was pretty shocked by what he said:

Hello Friend This Has Gone On For Quiet Some Time And I Figured That May-be I Should Let You In As To Whats Been Going On

As You Know I Lived On Your Desk But Well There Is A Whole Other World Out There One Which Has Many More Hot Girls And Cold Drinks Than Your Desk Does So With The Help Of Some Friends I Flew The Coop So To Speak Even Though I Am Not Good At Fly-ing

Fred Flin-stone Was A Fake Kid-napper Name I Heard About It From Some-where And It Sounded Good To Me

I Have Toured The World And Met All Kinds Of People And Saw Art And Stuff And Some Kind Of Chicken Duck Girl Thing Came Along For The Ride But I Did Not Get A Say In That Anyway I Wound Up Here In The Carabean And Well Take A Look At This Place It Has Girls And Beers And The Sun And It Turns Out I Like Spending Time Deep Under-water Too Who Would Have Thought

So I Am Going To Stay Here And Cease My Travel-ing Ways As For The Wife And Kids I Do Not Know What They Have Plannned But I Know They Do Not Like Girls And Beers Nearly As Much As I Do Which Makes Me Shake My Little Yellow Bean Filled Head In Confuse-un So Maybe You Will See Them Again Some-day And Maybe Me Too If I Ever Get Home-sick For Your Desk Which Frankly I Doubt But Stranger Things Have Happened Maybe

So. I really don't know what to make of this. It sounds like Mr. Peeps is ceasing his travels... at least for the time being. Maybe the wife and kids will keep touring the world? Maybe Mr. Peeps will get itchy feet... well, he doesn't have feet, but you know what I mean. Maybe he'll want to start traveling again? I have no idea. Maybe this is the end of his great adventures? I'd hate to think it's all over just like that. Updates, of course, will be posted as soon as I get them.

In the meantime, here are the pictures he sent. They were taken in Roatan, off the coast of Honduras.

Armed with a snorkel and mask, Mr. Peeps appears to be watching an instructional video.

The water looks beautiful. Mr. Peeps is preparing to spend some time in it.

I'm guessing the newfound interest in scuba diving is all a ploy.

Peeps wisely begins training in a shallow pool.

Underwater for the first time, Peeps learns to breathe from a tank.

Training complete, Mr. Peeps heads for the Caribbean Sea.

Mr. Peeps eases himself into the water (with the help of a companion - what a shock).

Peep blue sea?

Mr. Peeps enjoying the sun and the water. The end?

In other, unrelated, lesser news, the "savemrpeeps.org" domain will be going away soon. "savemrpeeps.com" will be kept around for all your Mr. Peeps news (savemrpeeps.livejournal.com will continue to work as well, of course).

It has been a long time, but Mr. Peeps has been spotted. Two months ago, in fact - and we're only getting the pictures now. Perhaps someone out there still uses non-digital cameras.

Mr. Peeps is welcomed at the airport by the friendly folks at WestJet.

Toting no metal and excited to be x-rayed, Mr. Peeps passes through security with flying colours, even though he himself cannot fly (which is why he needs to take airplanes to go places).

Mr. Peeps is so nonthreatening that he even got to visit the cockpit, which is kind of astonishing in this day and age.

Niagara Falls! Peeps returns (alone?) to the site of his honeymoon.

Another shot of Peeps and the falls.

This... is a bear. Peeps is normally scared of large animals, but he seems oddly calm here. Maybe the bear is full of beans too?

Finally, Peeps gets to his ultimate destination...

The Grey Cup! Along with thousands of other Saskatchewanians, Mr. Peeps made the trek out east to cheer the Roughriders on to their first Grey Cup victory in almost 20 years.
